6 Common Skin Care Mistakes To Avoid If You Want Healthy Skin

Taking care of your skin is key to aging gracefully and enjoying clear, healthy and radiant skin day after day!

It’s something we all want and something we all deserve, but there are a few common mistakes we see people doing over and over again that may actually be contributing to those issues you’re trying so desperately to avoid in the first place.

In this article, we will share some of the top skincare mistakes you yourself may be making and explain just why they are so damaging to your skin.

Using face wipes in place of a cleanser

Apart from the fact that the majority of face wipes are brimming in harsh ingredients and drying alcohol that will strip your skin of natural oils, using a face wipe involves a lot of tugging and pulling on the skin.

This can actually push dirt and makeup deeper into the pores where they can clog the pores and lead to breakouts!

Always use a good, non-toxic cleanser to properly clean your skin at night before bed.

Washing your face with a soap bar

As devout skincare lovers, this one truly makes us cringe!

That conventional soap bar isn’t even great for your body, let alone your precious facial skin!

Regular soap bars actually strip moisture from the skin, which dries your skin out and puts it at risk for aging. It can even contribute to blemishes too, because your skin may produce too much sebum to try and compensate for the obvious lack of moisture.

Keep that soap bar far away!

Not changing your pillowcases regularly

This is one most of us never think about, but oils from your skin and dead skin cells accumulate on your pillow and can cause clogged pores by exposing your skin to bacteria.

Be sure to wash your pillowcases at least once a week and be sure to use a non-toxic, all natural and gentle detergent to avoid skin irritation.

Skipping the SPF

SPF is your best friend no matter the season, end of story.

Harsh UV rays are your skin’s worst enemy so be sure to keep it protected at all times to prevent issues like hyperpigmentation, lines and wrinkles, not to mention an increased risk of skin cancer.

Always use an SPF of at least 30 or higher and layer over your skin care and under your makeup.

You’re neglecting your neck

Your neck is susceptible to aging too and, in fact, may show signs of aging before your face even does.

To keep your neck firm and youthful, be sure to always treat it the same way you do your facial skin. Apply your products liberally to your neck and always massage in an upwards motion, to lift the skin up, until fully absorbed.

Don't forget your decollete

Not exfoliating often enough

Exfoliation should be done at least once a week to help your skin shed dead skin cells and to ensure your products are properly absorbed.

By not exfoliating, you put your skin at risk for clogged pores and an overall dull appearance thanks to a build-up of dead skin cells. Your products also won’t be able to sink in and work their magic.

These tips will ensure you can rock a glowing and healthy complexion!
